Laurel and Andrew had one of the best wedding days this year! It was just so incredible. I arrived at the house where Laurel was getting ready and took some time to do the flat-lay photos with their vow books and rings. We also photographed the details of her wedding dress outside next to the house. I love taking the dress to different locations with better lighting when possible. Her bouquet from Embrace Events Co was absolutely stunning and complemented her vibe so well.
Afterwards, I snagged a couple photos of her getting her makeup done by Meraki Artistry – Trudi Day. I love when brides have fun robes or matching outfits for their bridal party. So of course we had to take some fun photos with her and her mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and best friend in their PJs. As the bride was getting into her wedding dresses started absolutely pouring outside. Imagine the hardest rain you’ve witnessed and that’s what was happening! Puddles quickly formed in any low areas on the lawn and driveway. I’m not going to lie that it made me super nervous for what the day was going to hold. Especially because while the bridal party had umbrellas, I had forgotten mine!
We went to this beautiful lake in the Tetons for their first looks. Laurel and her dad were first to go, and I just love father-daughter first looks. They are so special and I wish I had done one with my dad! Then Laurel and Andrew had their first look. We spent the remainder of the time doing couple portraits with the two of them all around the lake.
Next, we headed out for their Mountain View Turnout wedding ceremony. It is one of the six site-specific reserved locations for weddings through Grand Teton National Park. It was lightly raining when we arrived so we decided to wait it out for a couple minutes, and then we decided it probably wasn’t really going to get better. Luckily, the rain completely stopped for their ceremony! We were able to complete all of their family portraits and some couple portraits at that location before lightning, thunder, rain, and wind chased us out. We decided to skip our second location for portraits and hit up some different areas along the way.
I really appreciate when a couple is flexible on their wedding day because we never know what’s going to happen with weather. While we always hope for the best weather possible for our couples, sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way. But they were flexible and willing to go with the flow. They trusted the process and what I could do for them. So, we were able to visit three other locations for short periods of time and get a really good variety of pictures for their wedding!
One of the photos that Laurel really wanted of her and Andrew was them together with the veil. The wind was just perfect enough that we could make that happen in a very romantic way. I just love those photos so much.
After all of the events surrounding the ceremony were finished, everybody met at the Blue Lion for dinner where we ate the most delicious food I’ve had in a long time. My husband got the lamb ribs and I got the salmon and they were both phenomenal. They cut the cake which was made by Absaroka Cake Company and it was absolutely delicious!
