Grand Teton proposal photos don’t get more cinematic than a stormy sky over Cathedral View Turnout. When Garrett reached out, we knew the forecast looked iffy — but after talking it through, we agreed: we were going for it.
We met at Cathedral View Turnout, where even an overcast day delivers drama. The flat sagebrush stretches out in front of you, and then the Tetons just rise. Clouds draped across the peaks didn’t diminish them, it made them more mysterious. We waited out about 20 minutes of rain from our cars, and the moment it let up, I stepped out to signal Garrett. We were ready.
The planning beforehand made everything seamless. Garrett owns his own photography and video media company, so when I described positioning like where to stand, how to angle Megan for her reaction, he understood immediately. No second-guessing, no fumbling. Just a perfectly executed moment. Her reaction was completely genuine, and it showed in every picture.
After the proposal, we moved to String Lake for a second location. Fall color lined the banks, the mountains reflected in the calm water, and the trees created this naturally intimate feeling around them. It gave the gallery variety, raw and dramatic at Cathedral View, soft and romantic at String Lake. These are my favorite rainy proposal photos I have ever taken!
