Planning the Perfect Extended Family Photo Session

Andrea and her family traveled from Arizona to Jackson Hole, bringing together three generations for a memorable vacation. We initially planned their session at Mountain View Turnout, anticipating beautiful mountain vistas as our backdrop.

Adapting to Mountain Weather Conditions

When we arrived at our planned location, the wind hit us immediately – tremendously strong and bitterly cold! Coming from the much warmer climate of Arizona, Andrea’s family wasn’t quite prepared for Wyoming’s unpredictable mountain weather. We quickly decided to take a chance on String Lake, hoping the trees would provide shelter from the relentless wind.

String Lake proved to be the right choice. While we still experienced windy moments throughout the session, the location offered significantly more protection. They brought their winter coats along so everyone could warm up between shots, which kept spirits high despite the conditions.

Andrea came prepared with an incredibly well-thought-out shot list covering nearly every combination imaginable. She wisely highlighted her top priorities, which helped us work efficiently through the session. Her organization paid off—we completed all 40 different groupings she requested!
