Beach Elopement for Same-Sex Couple

Brandy and Amanda are among some of the first same-sex couple I’ve photographed. They met several years ago and have been together now for 7 years. They’ve both been in previous relationships and had children with their partners. They met while trying to find other moms to have play dates with for their kids. Their friendship turned to romance and now they are happily, and newly, married! These two were so much fun, and so easy to pose! I don’t have a lot of experience posing same-sex couples, but I learned it’s just about like any other! They had a really natural chemistry between them and just love to laugh which made their photoshoot so easy. 

Sanibel Island Lighthouse

As part of our time in Florida, I visited Sanibel Island. Sanibel Island has beautiful beaches and a really unique lighthouse. It’s a lot different than any of the lighthouses that I’ve seen in the past. Most of the lighthouses on the west coast are brick and mortar style. But this lighthouse was made of metal. I don’t know if that helps them weather hurricanes better, or if they last better for other reasons but it was my first time seeing a metal lighthouse like this.

Lush Forested Walkways and Open Sandy Beaches

We got to Sanibel Island Lighthouse early so that we could check out the area and make a game plan for where we wanted to photograph our couples. Florida has these thick lush forest areas and they’re all over the beach as well. On Sanibel Island, they had lots of little walkways through the forest and as well as wide open spaces with the ocean waves. It seriously made for such incredible variety in their galleries being able to photograph and locations that looked so different from each other, but were right next to each other.

Second Wedding Dresses

For this elopement photo shoot, they were both in their second wedding dresses. They wore these dresses for their wedding reception for a casual change. The dresses were absolutely perfect for the beachy vibe that we wanted to document while we were in Florida. They also had beautiful beaded jewelry that they put on to show off. I’m so thrilled with how this beautiful lesbian beach elopement turned out.
